Florence Lessard 1922 - 2002

Florence Lessard, 80, 1225 18th Ave. SW, Minot, died Monday, July 08, 2002, at a Minot hospital.

She was born February 19, 1922, in Warsaw, ND, the daughter of Stanley and Stella (Gonshoroski) Kowalczik. She was reared and educated in Warsaw.

Florence married Richard Lessard on November 20, 1947, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Warsaw. The couple lived on the Lessard family farmstead where they farmed and raised their five children.

Richard died in 1970. Florence continued to live on the farm where she raised her two youngest children while working at St. Joseph's Catholic Hospital in Grafton. In 1977, she moved of the farm and in 1978, she moved to Minot and lived with her daughter, Rose and her family.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was active in the altar society. She was also a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.

Survivors: daughters, Rose Johnson (Charles), Minot, and Lucille Rieger (Maynard), Hoople, ND; sons, Rick Lessard (Linda), West Fargo, ND and Roger Lessard, Fargo; 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, brother, Richard Kowalczik, Reno, NV; sisters, Eleanor Durkin (John) Grand Forks, ND and Irene Bina (Gerald), Ardoch, ND. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, daughter, Mary Helen Schommer, brothers, Stanley, Joseph, Edward and John Kowalczik, and sisters, Dorothy, Helen, Josephine and Veronica.

Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, July 12, 2002, at 10:30 a.m. Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot

Visitation: Thursday, July 11, 2002, from Noon until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Rosary Recitation and Prayer Service: Thursday, July 11, 2002, at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.

Burial: Sacred Heart Cemetery, Oakwood, ND. Burial will take place on Saturday, July 13, 2002 at Noon.
