Leona Leifson 1933 - 2004

Leona Leifson, 70, 425 28th Ave. SW, Apt. C, Minot, died Sunday, May 2, 2004 in a Minot Hospital.

Leona Cogdill was born on October 1, 1933, in Rolling Green Township, Ward County, the daughter of Delbert and Lois (Cowan) Cogdill. She was reared and educated in Rolling Green Township and married Lyle Leifson on October 26, 1949 at Rose Valley Lutheran Church, rural Des Lacs. They lived and farmed in Rolling Green Township until 1972 when they moved to the Logan area where Lyle and Leona owned and operated L&L Construction. She later went to work for Bell School as a cook for 13 years retiring from there three years ago. At the time of her death she was employed by the Holiday Inn as a prep cook, a position she held for the last 14 years.

Survivors: daughter, Janet Howard and her husband, Kevin, Minot; son, Lynn Leifson, Minot; grandchildren, Trevor, Trenton and Mara Howard and Tanaya Leifson. Brothers, Clarence Cogdill and his wife Gwen, Burlington, ND, Duane Cogdill, Sparta, Wisconsin, Homer Cogdill, Coal Strip , Mont., and Richard Cogdill and his wife, Carol, Lonetree, ND; sisters, Wyoma, Ingolfsland, Minot and Eunice Mertz and her husband, Walter, Minot. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister, Inez Stevenson.

Funeral: Saturday, May 8, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Burial: Rose Valley Lutheran Cemetery, rural Des Lacs, ND on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Visitation: Friday, May 7, 2004, 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. There will be no reviewal on Saturday prior to the service.

There will be fellowship following the funeral service at the Holiday Inn in Minot.
