Ethel Leichtnam 1907 - 2002 She was born June 7, 1907, in Bowbells, ND, the daughter of John and Emma (Johnson) Carlson. She was raised and educated in Bowbells and graduated from Bowbells High School. She married Frank S. Leichtnam on October 23, 1928, in Minot, ND. They farmed and raised their family in the Bowbells area their entire lives. Her husband, Frank died on February 27, 1986. Ethel remained living in Bowbells until 1996, when she moved to ManorCare Nursing Home in Minot. In 2001, she moved to the Kenmare Nursing Home, and lived there until the time of her death. Ethel was a member of the United Methodist Church in Bowbells and served in the ladies circle of the church. She was also an active member of the Bowbells Ever-ready Homemakers and the Senior Citizens for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed working with crafts, cooking and entertaining friends and family, and playing cards. Survivors: Son, Lyle (Linda) Leichtnam, Minot; daughters, Doris (Floyd) McGillivray, Pahrump, NV, Joanne (Joe) Haberlock, Vancouver, WA; 10 grandchildren, Debra Collins, Barbara (Ken Sambor) McGillivray, Marsha (Ray Dittimoore) McGillivray, Steven (Pat) McGillivray, Michael (Marta) McGillivray, Kim (Don) Becker, Sandy (Bill) Lucier, Judy (Ron) Low, Jeff (Michelle) Haberlock and John Haberlock; 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Violet Carlson, Bowbells. Her husband, parents and four brothers, Harold, Elmer, Emil and Herman preceded her in death. Memorials are preferred to the United Methodist Church, Bowbells, ND Funeral: Tuesday, November 5, 2002, 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Bowbells. Visitation: Monday, November 4, 2002, from noon to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND and one hour prior to service time on Tuesday morning at the church in Bowbells.
