Edward Ralph Legg 1916 - 2003 He was born November 24, 1916, in Ruso, ND to James and Florence (Newman) Legg. He was reared and educated in Underwood and graduated from Underwood High School. On August 7, 1935, he married Louise Carvell. She passed away September 19, 1975. He worked on the Soo Line Railroad as depot agent for 38 years, living in the Voltaire, Kongsberg and Benedict, as well as several other areas throughout his career.. He was a member of the Clerks Union while working for the Soo Line. He married Emma Legg on June 4, 1976. They lived in Velva until the time of his death. He was a member of Oak Valley Lutheran Church and the Velva Senior Citizens. He was a former member of Hjerdahl Lutheran Church and the Masons. He was an avid sportsman and especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, bowling and golfing. He had many trophies for his accomplishments in both bowling and golf. Edward was a very accomplished saxophone player. He played for many church and public functions since the age of eight years. He directed the church choir at Hjerdahl Lutheran Church at Voltaire for many years. He is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his wife, Emma, Velva; daughters, Eyvonne Olson, Velva and Denise (Roger) Hillerud, Golden Valley, ND; son, David (Barb) Legg, Velva; seven grandchildren, Keith (Deb) Olson, Karen Holte, Kyle Hillerud, Derick (Kathy) Hillerud, Nicole (Cory) Yanish, Travis Legg and Nikki Legg; nine great-grandchildren, Shawn and Samantha Olson, Landon and Casey Holte, Braetyn and Bransyn Yanish, Taya, Katianna and Daylan Hillerud; step-brother, Ben (Esther) Thomsen, Underwood and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, parents, step mother Thora Legg, two brothers, three sisters, three step-sisters and one step brother. Funeral: Wednesday, April 23, 2003, 10:30 a.m. at Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva, ND. Visitation: Tuesday, April 22, 2003, 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Velva, ND.
