Myrtle Esther Folkert Leet, 88, Kenmare, ND, died Wednesday, September 5, 2007, in a Kenmare hospital.

She was born on April 17, 1919, on the Cole farmstead in rural Kenmare the daughter of Charles and Susan (Masek) Folkert. She was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Kenmare and attended public school at Lakeview and later graduated from Kenmare High School in May of 1938. After graduation she worked at the San Haven Sanatorium for a short time.

Myrtle once worked at the Hillestad Café, Simmons Variety Store, Red Owl Store and was an Avon Representitive for over 20 years. She worked for many years at the Ben Franklin for Hubbards Browns, DeMaris Odland, Lyle and Marge Helmers. She was an owner and bookkeeper at the Leet Standard Service Station in Kenmare for several years and later worked at the Farmers Union Oil Company for ten years and retired in April of 1984.

Myrtle married Lalon C. "Bill" Leet Jr. on June 1, 1943, at the First Baptist Parsonage in Kenmare. The couple had two sons, Chuck and Jim.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Kenmare and was active with the First Baptist Church Ladies Aide. She was also a member of the Kenmare Senior Citizens where she served as treasurer.

Myrtle was a devoted Christian, followed the word of her Lord and Savior and was a caring mother and grandmother. She loved to cook, bake, tend to her flower garden and entertain family and friends. The memories Myrtle left will always be cherished by her loving family.

Survivors: sons, Chuck (Janet) Leet, Kenmare and Jim (Rose) Leet, Texas; grandson, Scott (Denise) Dorgan; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Mason Dorgan; sisters-in-law, Inez (Floyd) Graveson, Kenmare, Maurine Wolf, Marlys Leet and Yvonne Folkert all of Minot; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, her parents, granddaughter, Shelly Dorgan-Gravos, brothers, Chester and Lloyd Folkert and sister, Lillian Fox.

Memorial Service: Saturday, September 15, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare.

Friends may sign a register book one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare.
