Orpha Mae Ennis Lawson
1905 - 2004 Orpha Mae Ennis Lawson, 98, 600 South Main St, Minot, formerly of Donnybrook, ND, died Friday, July 30, 2004, in a Minot nursing home. She was born on December 30, 1905, at Dundas, MN, the daughter of Richard and Alice (Workman) Ennis. She moved with her parents to North Dakota and settled in the Tagus area where she attended school. Orpha graduated from Berthold High School and later taught in rural schools for two years. She married Fillmore R. Lawson on December 29, 1926, at Minot, ND. They were blessed with 70 ½ years of marriage of which most was spent in Donnybrook area. The couple managed the Recreation Parlor at Donnybrook for ten years. Fillmore died on July 14, 1997, at Mohall. Orpha entered ManorCare Health Services in 1999, where she lived until the time of her death. Orpha attended the Donnybrook United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and Bible school for a number of years. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Poppy Chairman, and the Clarence McCormack Legion Auxiliary for over 59 years. Survivors: sons, F. Jerome (LaVern) Lawson, Minot, Gerald (Ethel) Lawson, Donnybrook, R. Dennis (Virginia) Lawson, Minot, Roger (Gaynell) Lawson, Turtle Lake, ND, and Dixon Lawson, Donnybrook; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; 5 step great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard Ennis, Boise, ID, and Harold Ennis, Minot; sister, Mabel Perron, Mohall, ND; and sister-in-law, Jenny Ennis, Billings, MT. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fillmore, her parents,
granddaughter, Linda Lawson, grandson, Rodney Lawson, one infant
great-granddaughter, brothers, Earl, Vernie, and Lester Ennis,
and sisters, Bernice Olson, Beatrice Ennis and Alma Erickson.
