Laurence J. "Larry" Larson 1920- 2009

Larry Larson PhotoLaurence J. “Larry” Larson, 89, Minot, died Wednesday, December 16, 2009 in a Minot nursing home.

Laurence was born on March 4, 1920, a son of Joseph and Laura (Sevland) Larson in Minot, ND. He was raised and educated in Minot, graduating from Minot Model High School. Following his graduation, Laurence began working for the Great Northern Railroad.

On January 10, 1944, Laurence was united in marriage to Bonnie Jean Freund in Minot. They made their home in Minot, where Laurence worked as a Railroad Engineer for the Burlington Northern. He retired in 1985. Following his retirement, Laurence worked part time for Westlie Motor Company, transporting vehicles. Bonnie died April 17, 2004. He continued to live in Minot.  

Laurence was a Charter member of the Little Flower Church, in Minot. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.

            Daughters: Marilyn (Jim) Craig, Charlotte, NC, Cathy Schumacher, Fargo, ND; sons: Dwight (Trina) Larson, Sun Lakes, AZ and Gregory (Patricia) Larson, Queen Creek, AZ; 12 grandchildren:  15 great-grandchildren:
Brothers: Allen (Shirley) Larson, Minot, special niece and caregiver Valerie (Ron) Smith, Minot; Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Laurence was preceded in death by his parents, wife Bonnie, brothers Raymond, Leonard and Donnie

Visitation:  Sunday, December 20, 2009 from noon until 6:30 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Vigil Prayer Service: Sunday at 6:30 in the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot

Mass of Christian Burial: Monday, December 21, 2009 at 10:30 am at Little Flower Catholic Church, Minot

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials made out to Little Flower Catholic Church, Minot

Following the graveside service everyone is invited to join the family for lunch and fellowship at the Little Flower School gymnasium, located directly south of the church.
