Leona B. Larson - 2004


Leona B. Larson---86, Minot, formerly of Makoti died Monday, August 9, at Trinity Homes.

Leona was born November 5, 1917, on the family farm, near Hancock, MN, the daughter of Leo and Bertina (Oien) Snippen. She was baptized at First Lutheran Church in Cyrus, MN. In 1919 she moved with her family to a farm near Roseglen, ND, where she attended country school and later graduated from Ryder High School. While growing up she also helped her father farm.

On June 5, 1960 she married Edward Larson at Roseglen. The couple lived in Minot where Edward owned and operated Magic City Implement and they also maintained their farming interests in the Roseglen area until 1998.

Leona was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Makoti and the WELCA of the church. She was also a member of the Son's of Norway. Leona loved to cook and feed everyone who came to visit. She made wonderful pies and loved canning. Leona was very proud of her Norwegian heritage.

Those who shared in her life: Husband, Edward, Minot; step children, E. Neil (Dee) Larson, Makoti, Audrey Petz, Ojai, CA, and Sharon (Ralph) Shumaker, Greenville, N.C.; and numerous grandchildren; sisters, Marjorie Kolden, Garrison, ND, Thelma Wilner, Ulen, MN; numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Bertina, and brother, Harvey O. Snippen.

Funeral Friday at 3:00 p.m., at Hope Lutheran Church, Makoti.

Public reviewal Thursday noon to 7:00 p.m.

Burial at the Roseglen Lutheran Cemetery, Roseglen.
