Jennie S. Larson 1925 - 2003 Jennie S. Larson, 78, 800 72nd St. NE, Minot, died Monday, August 4, 2003, in a Minot hospital. Jennie was born January 30, 1925, in Makoti, ND, the daughter of Peder and Petra (Rutén) Running. She attended country school near Makoti for several years. She lived with her sister in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1941. She married LuVerne Larson on October 11, 1943, in Gibb Harbor, WA. They lived in Washington for a time, before returning to North Dakota. Her husband LuVerne, entered the US Army Air Corp, and she traveled with him to Presque Isle, ME, where they lived and started their family. Following his discharge from the service, they returned Plaza, ND, where they operated a farm for several years. In 1956, they moved to Minot, where she worked for several area businesses, including Widdel's City Bakery, Sears, Fanny Farmer and the Better Half Clothing Store. She retired in 1986, and continued to live in the Minot area for the remainder of her life. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Moose Lodge, both of Minot. She was an avid gardener, always having a magnificent flower garden. She loved to go dancing in the evenings with her husband. She treasured time spent with her family, be it Sunday dinner, holidays, or just a simple visit from one of the grandkids. She enjoyed her kitties and took in any stray cats in the area. She did needlepoint in her spare time, and made each of her children and most of her grandchildren a special needlepoint keepsake for them. Survivors: husband, LuVerne, Minot; one son, Peter Larson and wife Frances, Novato, CA; four daughters, Ottie Lou Hagen and husband Melvin, Monticello, MN, Carleen Hambaugh and husband Terry, Missouri City, TX, Kathleen Tague and husband Gene, Minot, and Linda Peters, Buffalo, MN; 11 grandchildren, Edmund (Mary) Hagen, Eldon (Laura) Hagen, Aaron Hagen, Brett and Colby Larson, Marc (Marilyn) Hambaugh, Bruce Hambaugh, Carrie (Clyde) Steapp, Shawn (Ronda) Tague, Shara (Brooks) Speake, and Danielle Peters; 8 great-grandchildren, Zachary and Maria Tague, Tyler and Brooke Speake, Ella Hagen, Tristan and Tori Steapp and Shep Hall; two brothers, Ole Running, Makoti, ND, and Iver Running, St. Cloud, MN. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Her parents and one sister, Chelfred Winters, preceded her in death. Funeral Service: Friday, August 8, 2003, 10:00 am, at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot, ND Visitation: Thursday, August 7, 2003 from noon to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.
