Gary R. Larson • 1943 - 2007 Gary Raymond Larson was born December 19, 1943 in Fargo, ND, the son of Raymond H. and Helen A. (Hayes) Larson. He moved with his parents to several cities while growing up and attended schools in Moorhead, MN, Towner, ND and Bishop Ryan High School in Minot. On December 28, 1960, he entered the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged on December 16, 1963. He returned to North Dakota and worked as a painter in the Minot area and on the missile sites and power plants for 38 years. Gary was the only one to follow in his dad's footsteps out of nine boys and take up painting. Gary was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church in Minot, and he enjoyed singing in the church choir. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed playing pinochle with his buddies, writing poetry and he was an excellent glass stensiler. Survivors: Mother, Helen A. Larson, Minot; brothers, Bobby Larson, Donald Larson and Charles Larson, all of Minot, Larry (Gail) Larson, Hazen, ND, and Raymond (Karen) Larson, Jr., Bismarck, ND; sisters, Loretta (Gary) Holzinger, Anamosa, IA, Connie (Bob) Vassey, Trura, IA, Kathy (Mike) Briggs, Moxee City, WA, Patty Beck, El Paso, TX, Marie Larson, Minot, Shelly (Mike) O'Donnell, Clay Center, KS, and Nancy (John) Marrero, Moreno Valley, CA; 26 nieces and nephews, 26 great-nieces and great-nephews and numerous cousins also survive. Gary was preceded in death by his father, Raymond H. Larson; three brothers, Kenneth Richard Larson, Clifford Bruce Larson and Joseph Robert Larson. Funeral: Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot, ND. Visitation and vigil prayer service: There will be no reviewal, but friends may sign the register book Monday, July 16, 2007, from noon to 7:00 p.m. with the vigil prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
