Carol J. Larson 1930 - 2009 Carol Jean McEvers was born December 11, 1930, in Clayton Township, Burke County, ND, one of nine children, to Abner Earl and Mildred (Remington) McEvers. She attended Clayton Grade School until the age of nine, when her mother passed away. In 1940 her father moved the family to Lignite, and she graduated from Lignite High School. Carol married Raymond Larson on December 27, 1948. They lived and farmed in the Lignite area. In 1970, they moved into Lignite, but continued farming. Carol was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Lignite, where she sang in the church choir and was a Sunday school teacher for a number of years. When the churches merged she became a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Lignite. She served as Vale Township treasurer for 30 years and worked as a nurse's aid at the Good Samaritan Center in Crosby for 10 years. Those who shared in her life, husband, Raymond, Lignite; son, Mark (Carolyn) Larson, Lignite; granddaughter, Kady (Destin) Williams, Devils Lake, ND, and their son, Rylan Williams; brothers and sisters, Gordon (Joy) McEvers, Lignite, ND, Doug (Charlotte) McEvers, Williston, ND, Don (Ina) McEvers, Hayward, CA, Helen (Hans) Nielsen, Tioga, ND, Joyce (Carl) Brooks, Livermore, CA, Allan (Shirley) McEvers, Lignite, and Loren (Sharon) McEvers, Lignite; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Carol was preceded in death by her son, Lowell Larson; her parents, Abner Earl and Mildred McEvers, and a sister, Erlene Dickinson. Funeral: Friday, September 11, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, Lignite, ND. Visitation: Friday, one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial: Bethany Lutheran Cemetery, Lignite, ND.
