Robert Harold "Bobby"
Larson 1940 - 2008 Bobby then moved to Minot, where he worked for Montana Dakota Utilities from 1962 until his retirement in 2000. Bobby then became involved in the operation of Planet Pizza, where he always had a welcoming smile. Bobby was well known in the state and national softball circles. He began his umpiring career in 1982, working local leagues and tournaments. He was chosen a member of the Elite Umpires Association and worked many state tournaments as well as national tournaments. He was proud to have been invited to work the NCAA National Baseball World Series and the NCAA Women's Fastpitch Softball Tournament. He was voted the NDHSAA Umpire of the Year in 2008. He was a manager of a number of fastpitch softball teams, dating back to the late 1960's. He was an umpire for high school baseball and was an active volunteer in the Minot Youth Football Organization where he officiated many games. He was also proud to have run in the Boston Marathon in 1984. Bobby was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Minot, the Eagles Aerie, where he is a past president, the Minot Jaycees, where he was awarded the Outstanding Jaycee of the Year. He was active in the Bishop Ryan Boosters and was a proud fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Boston Celtics. He was once married to Carol Fossum whom he married in 1964 and to Jacqueline Phipts whom he married in 1988. Bobby is survived by his daughter, Tammy Benjamin and her husband Mike of Minot; sons Terry Larson and his wife Ronnah of Warroad, MN and Zac Larson of Minot; his grandchildren, Kris, Anna, Breeanna and Brytni Larson and Breanna and Hunter Benjamin; his mother Helen Larson of Minot; his brothers Donald, Charles, Larry (Gail) and Raymond Jr. (Karen); and his sisters Loretta (Gary) Holzinger, Connie (Bob) Vasey, Kathy (Mike) Briggs, Patricia Beck, Marie Larson, Shelly O'Donnell and Nancy (John) Marrero. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond and his brothers Gary Raymond Larson, Kenneth Richard Larson, Clifford Bruce Larson and Joseph Robert Larson. Memorials are preferred to the Minot Catholic School Foundation, Minot. Funeral: Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Minot. Visitation: Tuesday, December 29, 2008 from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Minot.
