Marian Larsen • 1919 - 2007 Marian was born on June 9, 1919, in Kenmare, ND, the daughter of Andrew and Esther (Jensen) Mortensen. She was reared and educated in Kenmare and graduated from Kenmare High School in 1938. Marian moved to California and worked at Boeing Aircraft. While working in California she met and married Delmer McBeth. Delmer was killed overseas in 1944, while serving during World War II. Marian returned to North Dakota and was united in marriage to Howard Larsen on November 9, 1945, in Minot. The couple made their home on the Larsen family farmstead in rural Kenmare where they started their family. Howard died on August 22, 1986, in Minot. In the fall of 1986 Marian moved into Kenmare. In January of 1998, she entered assisted living and in 2005, the Kenmare Hospital. Marian loved knitting, bowling and reading. She was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary both in Kenmare. Survivors: children, Howard "Hans" Larsen, Kenmare and Linda (Carl) Melin, Norma, ND; grandchildren, Jeffrey Melin and his companion Pam Melby and her children, Kirkland and Kyler, Stacy (Tim) Lautenschlager and Trevor (Maryann) Melin; great-grandchildren, Keagan, Madison, Aiden, Karsyn, Paul and Connor; brother, Donald (Doreen) Mortensen, Kenmare and brother-in-law, Robert (Gladys) Larsen, Billings, MT and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Delmer and Howard, her parents, brothers, Gordon and James Mortensen and sisters, Margaret Rieland and Francis Kinsman. Private Funeral Service will take place at the Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare. Visitation: Monday, November 26, 2007, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare.
