Julia Larsen 1913 - 2007 Julia was born on March 21, 1913, the daughter of John and Lucy (Thompson) Odland on the family farm in Hendrickson Township, rural Simcoe, ND. Julia's mother died while giving birth in 1915, and her father married Otelia Berg in 1919. Julia attended rural grade school and graduated from Velva High School. She attended Minot Normal School, where she received her Teacher's certificate. She taught in rural schools for four years. On October 20, 1934, she was united in marriage to Edwin Milton Larsen in Rugby, ND. Following their marriage, they lived in rural Bottineau and Deering, where Milton was a school teacher. They moved to the Larsen family farm, where Julia was active in farming. She continued to have an interest in the farming operation into her later years. In 1949, Julia and Milton moved to Granville, ND. Together they continued farming. Milton died November 1, 1965. Julia was able to live in her own home in Granville until February of 2007, when she moved into the Sue Byre adult foster care home in Minot. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Julia was active in the Eastern Star, Rising Homemakers Club, and the Granville Senior Citizens. Her faith was very important to her. She was an active member of the Stenkjaer Lutheran Church and its ladies group. She served as bookkeeper for many organizations. Julia's family would like to thank all of her friends and family, especially, Valda Mahle and Darlene Swallers for their loving care. Julia is survived by; Son, Leonard (Marlene) Larsen, Granville, ND; daughter, Dolores (Jay) Stevens, Burlington, five grandchildren, Kim Hall, Kristin (Bryan) Van Grinsven, Kyle (Kendra) Larsen, Maren Stevens, and Guy Stevens. 5 great-grandchildren: Jordan Hall, Carter Hall, Madison Van Grinsven, Brooke Van Grinsven and Kaitlyn Larsen. Brothers, Lawrence Odland, Minot and Ingvald (Olga) Odland, Velva, many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Milton, brothers Martin and Selmer Odland; sisters-in-law, Alice Odland, Irene Odland, Louise Herbranson-Odland, Ruth McDaniel and Alice Decker. Visitation: Thursday, April 5, 2007 from Noon until 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. all at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot. Funeral Service: Friday, April 6, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Stenkjaer Lutheran Church, Simcoe, ND. Burial: Stenkjaer Lutheran Cemetery, Simcoe, ND. Immediately following the burial everyone is invited to join the family for lunch and fellowship in the Granville Senior Citizens Center, Granville, ND.
