Ruby Landers 1931 - 2009 Ruby Jorgensen was born on June 29, 1931, a daughter Alfred and Elsie (Erickson) Jorgensen on the family farm, rural Coteau, ND. She was raised and educated in the Coteau area and graduated from Kenmare High School in 1949. Ruby furthered her education, attending Minot State Teachers College, where she would obtain her Standard teachers Certificate. She taught in rural schools in Spencer, Niobe, Heartland and Ray Townships. On October 6, 1957, she was united in marriage to Irwin Landers. They made their home on a farm in Spencer Township, where Ruby was a homemaker. She enjoyed music, cooking, gardening, and spending time with her children. Ruby would also work as a tutor for area children for a number of years. She was a member of the Kenmare Church of the Nazarene, where she was active as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher. Those who shared her life: Husband of 51 years Irwin, Jamestown, ND; children: Susan (Thilmer) Roemmich, Jamestown, ND, James (Renita) Landers, Kansas City, MO, Karen (Donald) Hanford, Fort Worth, TX, Donna (Scott) Gill, Rockford, IL, Denis Landers, Rockford, IL; 14 grandchildren: Brandon, April, Josh, Audrey, Amanda, Marsha, Katie, Susie, Christina, Jennifer, Matthew, Michael, Nicholas, Sarah,; six great-grandchildren: Larissa, Isaiah, Sierra, Katie, Cyra and Carson; brother: The Honorable Judge Donald (Caroleen) Jorgensen, Bismarck, ND; sisters: Viola Rethmeier, St. Louis, MO, Lola (Julian) Lunde, Bloomington, MN; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Ruby was preceded in death by: her parents, daughter Karen Hanford, infant sister Rosella Jorgensen, sisters Verna Peterson and Opal Eide. Visitation: Friday, August 28, 2009, from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare, ND Funeral Service: Saturday, August 29, 2009at 2 pm at Kenmare Church of the Nazarene, Kenmare Burial: Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare, ND Music: Marcia Hanford, Katie Hanford and Susie Hanford, musicians to offer Prelude music and special selections during funeral service.
