Roy Lalka 1929 - 2003

Roy Lalka, 74, 1416 7th St SW, Minot, died Thursday, May 1, 2003, at a Minot hospital.

He was born March 26, 1929, in Butte, ND, the son of Felix and Katie (Nachatilo) Lalka. He was reared and educated in Butte Schools. He enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He was later honorably discharged.

He was formerly married to Arlene Perekrestenko. The couple had four children. Roy was employed with Great Northern Railroad as a brakeman and conductor for 29 years. He also farmed throughout his life in the Butte area.

Roy once owned and operated a bike and key shop in Minot. After his retirement Roy enjoyed trips to the west coast to visit his family and he spent many afternoons playing cards with his club friends.

He was a member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge and the Eagles Aerie.

Survivors: son, Robert Lalka, Loveland, CO; daughters Arlette Nelson (Michael) Portland, OR, and Annette Edinger (Brad), Bismarck, ND; grandchildren, Ben and Nathan Lalka and Ellerey and Asher Nelson; brother, Alfred Lalka, Drake, ND. He was preceded in death by his son, Randall Lalka, his parents, and brother, Mitchell Lalka.

Funeral Service: Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.

Visitation: Monday, May 5, 2003, from 9a.m. until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
