Gary E. Lagge 1938 - 2010 Gary Edwin Lagge was born August 14, 1938, a son of Edwin and Tessie (Kovarik) Lagge, on the family farm located near Emmet, ND. He was raised and educated in the Garrison area and graduated from Garrison High School in 1956. Following his high school graduation, Gary enlisted in the United States Army Reserves for a time. Gary married Doris L. Jacobson January 13, 1961, in Garrison. He then began his employment with SRT as a lineman installer. They later made their home in Sawyer and he continued working for SRT. He was awarded the Good Samaritan Award in 1978 and in 1984, as well as several other service awards. From 1981 to 1996, he was a volunteer for the Sawyer Fire Department, where he had served on the Sawyer Fire Department Board, and was the Fire Inspector. He had also served on the Sawyer Zoning Board. After 35 years of service at SRT, he retired as a central office technician on April 1, 1996. His beloved wife, Doris, of 42 years passed away February 26, 2003. Following his retirement, he enjoyed farming, ranching, and hunting. He loved his classic cars, as he had attended many car shows and was a member of the Studebaker Club. In his younger years, he enjoyed camping and spending time on their house boat with his family and friends. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Surviving family includes: mother, Tessie Lagge, Garrison; sons, Brian Lagge (Serena Goodrich), Sawyer, and Bruce (Carrie) Lagge, Minot; grandchildren, Tessa, Krista, and Tilden Lagge; and Jacob, Kobe, Braden Lagge; brothers, Ronald (JoAnn) Lagge, rural Garrison, and Wade (Lori) Lagge, Voltaire; sisters, Gloria (Jim) Huston, rural Garrison, Deanna (Ed) Werner, Minot, and Karen (Wayne) Aga, Minot; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
