Dorothy A. Kvamme 1937 - 2004

Dorothy A. Kvamme, 67, 1301-31st. Ave. SW, Minot, ND, died Tuesday, July 27, 2004, in her home.

Dorothy Ann Leier was born on April 18, 1937, the daughter of Pete and Agatha (Schuck) Leier on the family farm, which was located in Balfour Township of McHenry County, rural Balfour, ND. She was raised and educated in Balfour and graduated from Balfour High School in 1955.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Jerome Kvamme on February 15, 1958, in Minot. They made their home in Minot where she was employed by Woolworth's and Montgomery Insurance. In 1963, they moved to a farm located in Odin Township of McHenry County where they farmed and ranched. They later moved to the family farm located in Voltaire Township of McHenry County and continued to raise small grains and livestock. They retired from farming in 1995 and moved to Minot where they are managers for the South Pointe Terrace apartments.

Dorothy and Jerry spent many years accompanying their children to rodeos, horse shows and livestock events.

Dorothy made and kept a warm and beautiful home and will be greatly missed. She was a very loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, who loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

Dorothy was a former member of the Moose Lodge Auxiliary and St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Velva.

son: Tim (Teri) Kvamme of Voltaire; and Jeff (Jona) Kvamme of Carrington;
grandchildren: Candyce and Ethan Mattingley; Casey, Matt and Ashley Kvamme; and Kylie, Keenan, Kambree and Kaulder Kvamme;
brothers and sisters: Kaye Grauman of Walnut Creek, CA; Johanna Haberlack of Sylmar, CA; Veronica (Don) Filipek of Minot; Rose Ganje of Puyallup, Wash; Willie Leier of Bismarck; Berna Schatz of Bismarck; Josie (Walter) Haberlack of Princeton, KY; Felix (Agnes) Leier of Elk Grove, CA; Francis (Betty) Leier of Hanford, CA; Arlene (Francis) Schiele of Drake; Jeanie (Tony) Bartsch of Minot; Jim (Linda) Leier of Newport Beach, CA; and Beverly (Larry) Barland of Lakota.
numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents.

Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, July 30, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Thursday, July 29, 2004, from Noon until 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Vigil Prayer Service: Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.
