Marie Kvame 1940- 2006


Marie Kvame, 66, Minot, died Friday, June 23, 2006, in her daughter's home in Minot.

She was born on May 14, 1940, in Minot, ND, the daughter of Francis and Gladys (Harmon) Hurley. She was reared and educated in Granville.

Marie was united in marriage to Jerome E. Kvame on October 14, 1956, in Granville, ND. The couple made their home in Granville where they raised their eight children. Throughout the years, Marie worked various jobs as a cook, seamstress and co-owner of Tropical Fish World in Minot.

Jerome died on April 23, 1994, in Minot. After his death, she was very active with Trinity Hospice and as a caregiver. She was also very active with Befriender's and CPE at Trinity Health, in Minot. Marie received her certificate of participation in the National Association of Mental Health in Arizona. She used this training as a volunteer in numerous organizations.

Marie was a former member of New Life Lutheran Church, Minot, and attended First Presbyterian Church with her daughter, Mavis and her family.

Survivors: sons, Jerry Kvame, Port Orchard, WA, and Jesse Kvame, Apache Junction, AZ; daughters, Mona Jean Kingsley, Minot, Maesie (Frank) Neiss, Mesa, AZ, Maxine (John) Sutherlin, Minot, Mavis (Damon) Druse, Minot, Mira (Keith) McMasters, Vancouver, WA, and Melinda Kvame, Apache Junction, AZ; 23 grandchildren, Mikki Kingsley, Shawnee Christenson, Kyle Kingsley, Lonny Kingsley, Cassie Kvame, Jason Kvame, Kasey Kvame, Kristen Kvame, Melissa Kvame, Rebecca Delucia, Travis Neiss, Chantel Neiss, Natasha Neiss, Katherine Neiss, Mitchell Neiss, Christianna Sutherlin, Larry Sutherlin, Marcus Sutherlin, Michael Sutherlin, Megan Druse, Devin Druse, Brandon Kvame, and Christopher Kvame; four great-grandchildren, Anjolina Delucia, James Delucia, Kendra Conko and Kara Conko; sister, Annetta (Vern) Jutila, Rapid City, SD; and brother, David (Karen) Hurley, Port Orchard, WA.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome, her parents, Francis and Gladys, brother, Joseph Hurley, sister, Janet Landers, granddaughters, Bobbi Jo Conko and Jenzia Sutherlin.

Funeral Service: Monday, July 3, 2006, at 10:30 am First Presbyterian Church, Minot.

Visitation: Sunday, July 2, 2006, from Noon until 5 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Burial: will take place on Monday, July, 3, 2006, at 1:30 pm Granville Community Cemetery, Granville, ND.
