Kuntz 1909 - 2005 Joseph "Joe" Kuntz, 96, 401 25th St. NW, Minot, died Wednesday, September 28, 2005, in a Minot care center. Joseph "Joe" Kuntz was born on April 30, 1909, the son of John and Angeline (Duchsherer) Kuntz on the family farm in Orrin, ND. He attended the country school in Blumenfeld, before assisting his family with the operations of the farm. As a young man, he worked for many farmers in the area. In 1937, Joe went to Flint, MI, to work in an auto factory. He returned to Orrin in 1938. He was united in marriage to Theresa Pfeifer on November 21, 1939, at the Blumenfeld Church near Orrin. They lived and farmed in the Balfour area for one year, before moving to a farm north of Drake. In 1943, they bought a farm at Balfour, where they raised small grains and cattle. The couple resided there until retiring in 1980. Following retirement, they moved to Minot. Joe loved to travel and spend time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Joe was a member of the St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, The Holy Name Society, and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by: Wife of 65 years, Theresa, Minot; daughters: LaVon Sandhofner, Burlington, ND, Jannette (Roy) Shramek, Swisher, IA, Shirley (Carrol) Himes, Cedar Rapids, IA, Donna (Kevin) Ludwik, Van Horne, IA; son: Jerry (Kim) Kuntz, Ely, IA; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers: Paul (Rose) Kuntz, Gabe (Jean) Kuntz, Martin Kuntz, all of Great Falls, MT; sisters: Mary Bartsch, Minot and Elizabeth Schiele, Velva; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by an infant son, his parents, sisters: Julia Haman, Katheryn Wolf, brother, Michael "Mike" Kuntz, and son-in-law, Clement Sandhofner. Visitation: Sunday, October 2, 2005 from 12:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Vigil prayer service: Sunday, October 2, 2005 at 6:00 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot Mass of Christian Burial: Monday, October 3, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot.
