Ralph Thomas "Peanuts"
Kunnanz 1930 - 2002 Ralph Thomas "Peanuts" Kunnanz, 71, 504 5th Ave. NW, Minot, died Friday, July 5, 2002, in a Minot hospital. Ralph was born December 14, 1930 in Selz, ND, the son of Frank and Frances (Thomas) Kunnanz. He was raised and educated in Selz, and worked for area farmers while growing up. He entered the United States Air Force and served in Korea, from 1951 to 1955. On April 28, 1952 he married Alma Faul in Rugby, ND. Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force, the couple made their home in Minot. He worked at Don Moe Dodge in Minot for a time. In 1964 he opened Broadway Body Shop. Ralph owned and operated that business until it closed in December of 2000. Ralph was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church, Minot, where he served as an usher. He was active in the Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree member. He was a life-time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the American Legion, both Minot. He enjoyed spending time at their lake home on Strawberry Lake, and was a member of the Strawberry Lake Association. Ralph was an avid pool player and played in the Minot Old Pros League. He was a race fan, and loved to watch the races at the Nodak Speedway. Ralph especially enjoyed his family and grandchildren. He attended many of his grandson's hockey and baseball games, and if he couldn't attend he was on the phone to see how the games went. Survivors: Wife, Alma, Minot; sons, Dennis (Ladine) Kunnanz, Edmond, OK, and Tom (Laurie) Kunnanz, Minot; daughter, LaVonne (Don) Boughey, Longmont, CO; eight grandchildren, Jason (Meagan) Kunnanz, Greg and Dustin Kunnanz, Derek and Amanda Boughey, Reed, Shane and Peder Kunnanz; two great-grandchildren, Cole and Rory Kunnanz; brothers, Ernest (Alouise) Kunnanz, Minot, Emmanuel Kunnanz, Springfield, MO, Herman (Katie) Kunnanz, Yakima, WA, Hygenus and David Kunnanz, both Seattle, WA, and Arthur (Sharon) Kunnanz, Bismarck; sister, Eleanor Howland, Redwood City, CA; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Frances Kunnanz, and a two year old brother, Raymond Kunnanz. Funeral: Wednesday, July 10, 2002, at 10:00 a.m., at Little Flower Catholic Church, Minot, ND. Visitation and Vigil Prayer Service: Visitation Tuesday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, with the vigil prayer service Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., at Little Flower Catholic Church, Minot. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.
