Viola M. "Vi"
Kerzman Krukenberg Viola M. "Vi" Kerzman Krukenberg, 74, Minot, died Wednesday, November 12, 2003, in a Denver, CO medical center. Viola was born on July 11, 1929, in Knox, ND, the daughter of Joseph and Emelia (Thomas) Bertsch. The family moved to Minot when she was a child. She was raised in Minot and graduated from St. Leo's High School in 1947. Viola played guitar and sang along with her sisters in her father's dance band, who were well known musicians in the area. They continued to play together until the early 1950's. Viola began working as a bookkeeper with Gamble Robinson's, Montgomery Ward and John Iverson Company, all in Minot. She married Harland L. "Swede" Kerzman on October 17, 1955, at Little Flower Catholic Church in Minot. They lived in Minot until 1966, when they moved to Kalispell, MT. Viola continued her bookkeeping and accounting career with a certified public accounting firm while continuing to raise her family, and was later employed at Roy Stanley Chevrolet in Kalispell. Her husband, "Swede" Kerzman died on October 1, 1982, and she then returned to Minot. She married Russel R. Krukenberg on August 5, 1993 in Minot. Viola retired in 1994. Russel passed away on October 30, 2002, and Viola continued to live in Minot. In early November of 2003, she relocated to Denver, Colorado to be closer to her immediate family. Viola was a member of St Leo's Catholic Church and the Eagles Auxiliary, both in Minot. She enjoyed music and dancing and had a beautiful singing voice. Survivors: Sons, Greg (Catherine) Kerzman, Kalispell, MT, Keith (Tina) Kerzman, Mesa, AZ, Ken (Sara) Kerzman, Big Fork, MT, Jeff Kerzman, Denver, CO; stepdaughter, Rochell Abrahamson, Minot; eight grandchildren, Beverly and Jennifer Kerzman, Levi and Chelsea Kerzman, Dennis and Denise Krause, and Dillon and Westin Abrahamson ; sisters, Theresa Iverson, Fargo, Eva (Ron) Smathers, Alvina (Don) Loveland and Leona Burns, all of Minot; numerous nieces and nephews survive. Her husbands, Harland L. Kerzman and Russel R. Krukenberg; infant son, Stephan Kerzman; her parents, and sister Adeline M. Kerzman preceded her in death. Funeral Mass: Tuesday, November 18, 2003, at 1:00 p.m., at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot, ND. Visitation and Vigil Prayer Service: Visitation will be Monday, November 17, 2003, from noon to 7:00 p.m., with the vigil prayer service Monday at 7:00 p.m., all at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND. The family requests memorial donations be made to the National Alzheimer's Association. Celebrant of the Liturgies: Rev.
