Mary Dora Nichols was born on March 23, 1920, a daughter of Raymond and Dora (Houle) Nichols on a farm west of Berthold, ND. She attended country school and graduated from Berthold High School in 1938. She went to work in Minot.  

On November 26, 1940, she was united in marriage to Harold Krogstad. As a young married couple, they moved to Tacoma, WA. They adopted their son Robert in 1952. Mary worked as a Retail Clerk at the Fort Lewis Army Base for many years.

She was a member of the Church of the Visitation, Sons of Norway, VFW Auxiliary, AmVets Auxiliary all of Tacoma, WA.

Her husband Harold died in 1992. Mary moved back to Minot to be closer to her family and entered Trinity Homes in 2000, where she spent her remaining years.  

Those who shared in her life: Son: Robert (Janine) Krogstad, Tacoma, WA; Brothers: Jim (Sharon) Nichols, Berthold, ND, Alfred (Delores) Nichols, Minot, Bernie (Linda) Nichols, Boulevard, CA; sisters: Bernice Tomascik, El Cojon, CA, Alice (Don) Blumhoff, Sioux Falls, SD; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Joe Nichols, Lawrence Nichols, sisters: Helen Johnson and Agnes Johnson.

Visitation:  Wednesday, January 20, 2010, from 2:00 -7:00 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Mass of Christian Burial:  Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 2 pm at Trinity Homes Chapel, Minot, ND

Burial:  Mountain View Memorial park, Tacoma, WA

Immediately following the funeral mass there will be coffee and bars located at the rear of the chapel. Everyone is invited to join the family for this time of fellowship.

The graveside service will take place at a later time in January.

The Krogstad family would like to thank everyone for the many acts of kindness shown to them during this difficult time. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten. May God bless the memory of Mary.
