Mary Eva Kremer 1926 - 2008 Mary Eva Bachmeier was born January 21, 1926, on the family farm near Orrin, ND, the daughter of Felix and Katherine (Schmaltz) Bachmeier. She was raised on the family farm and attended school in Orrin. On October 24, 1944, Mary married Ferdinand A. "Fred" Kremer at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Orrin. Following their marriage they farmed in the Orrin area for a time. Fred worked with the Soo Line Railroad, so the couple lived in several communities in North Dakota, including, Karlsruhe, Voltaire, Drake Velva and Burlington, where they raised their family. Besides raising her children, Mary often worked as a cook in many of the small town cafes. In 1973 Fred and Mary moved to Crosby where they lived until 1988 when they returned to Burlington. Many would remember Mary from Howdy's Café in Burlington, where she worked and owned the business for several years. Fred died on April 5, 1991. Mary was a charter member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot, and was a former member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Burlington, and St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Crosby. She was a member of the Friendly Senior Citizens in Burlington and while her husband was living she was a member of the Eagle's Aerie and the Moose Lodge. Mary was a wonderful seamstress and she loved to bake. She baked something everyday of the week for many years. Going to church was very important to her even though she didn't drive, she always found a way to get there. Mary was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. Those who shared in her life, children, Kasmer (Kim) Kremer, Dickinson, ND, Marlene (Jay) Jaderberg, Snohomish, WA, Robert (Kelly) Kremer, Sunnyvale, CA, Rodney (Cheryl) Kremer, Burlington, ND, Sherry (Jerry) Darling, Minot, ND and Roger Kremer, Spokane, WA; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jacob Bachmeier, Burlington, Ludvig Bachmeier, Minot, ND, Gabriel Bachmeier, Grand Junction, CO; sisters, Helen Simmons, Fordville, ND, Julia Kremer, Rugby, ND, Esther Goldade, Harvey, ND, Amelia Brown, Surrey, ND, Adeline Bonn, Rugby, Caroline Heilman, Karlsruhe, ND, Janice Phillips, Atlanta, GA and Gertrude Abrehke, Devils Lake, ND; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins survive. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Ferdinand "Fred" Kremer; sons, Clifford and LaVerne Kremer; granddaughter, Ashley Kremer; her parents; three sisters and one brother. Funeral: Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot. Visitation: Monday, November 24, 2008, from noon to 7:00 with the vigil prayer service at 7:00 p.m., all at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
