Cecilia Kramer 1916 - 2005

Cecilia Kramer, 88, Velva, ND, died Monday, October 24, 2005, at Souris Valley Care Center, Velva.

Cecilia Schiele was born on December 22, 1916, the daughter of Ludwig and Catherine (Richter) Schiele on the family farm near Fulda, North Dakota. She was raised on a farm in McHenry County, near Drake, ND, and educated at schools in the area.

Cecilia was married to John Kramer on September 28, 1937, in Karlsruhe. They made their home on a farm 14 miles northwest of Drake, where they farmed and raised livestock. In 1961, they moved to Minot, where she was employed by St. Joseph's Hospital as a nurse's aide. She retired in 1982, after working there for 21 years. John passed away on January 20, 1983. Following her husbands death, she continued to reside in Velva. Then in April of 2004, she moved to Minot and resided at Brentmoor Assisted Living. In May of 2005, she moved into the Souris Valley Care Center, Velva.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Balfour, St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot, and St. Cecelia Catholic Church, Velva, and their respective Christian Mothers groups.

She enjoyed painting china, gardening, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving family includes: sons and daughters-in-law, James and Rose Kramer, Great Falls, MT; Duane and Renee Kramer, Billings, MT; and Brian and Vickie Kramer, Ritzville, WA; and daughter-in-law, Irene Kramer, Velva; grandchildren, Claudette (Mark) Gelb, Candice Kramer, Monty (Karen) Kramer, and John (Nancy) Kramer; Greg (Becky) Kramer, Brenda (Jim) Sommerville, and Doug (Angie) Kramer; Jennifer (Kristian) Boness, Lindsey (Alan) Hille, and Kristin Kramer; Bruce (Hope) Kramer, Gerard (Mary) Kramer, and Paul (Kim) Kramer; 20 great-grandchildren, brothers, Henry (Lucille) Schiele, Jerome (Bernadine) Schiele, Mike (Anna) Schiele, Francis (Arlene) Schiele, and Louie (Rita) Schiele; sisters, Elizabeth Volk, Anna Marie (Lawrence) Mack, Maggie (Tony) Mack, and Rose (Victor) Bischoff; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cecilia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; son, Patrick; an infant brother.

Mass of Christian Burial: Thursday, October 27, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Cecelia Catholic Church, Velva, ND.

Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery, Drake, ND, at 1:30 pm.

Visitation: Wednesday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Velva, and from 6:30 to 7 pm at the church.

Rosary/Vigil Prayer Service: Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the church.

Memorials are preferred to Holy Cross Cemetery, Drake, ND, or to an organization of the donor's choice.
