Lawrence "Bud"
Korte • 1930- 2010 He was born December 21, 1930 in Lansford, N.D. to Edward and Evelyn (Billado) Korte. He was raised briefly in the Lansford area and moved to Berthold where he attended Berthold Public School until graduating in 1949. After graduating he worked at the Birdsall-Meyer ranch until entering the Army in April of 1950. He was involved in the Korean conflict and spent his assignment in Japan. Upon his discharge from the Army he joined The Carpenter's Union and worked construction on the Garrison dam and was a foreman of the first housing at Minot Air Force Base. In October, 1952 he married Dorothy Grant and lived the next twelve years in Minot. In 1964, Bud and Dorothy moved to Berthold where he was employed as custodian of the Berthold Public School. He served this position for 33 ½ years until retirement in 1997. Bud also sold and constructed grain bins and metal buildings to farmers in the Berthold area. Bud was also a member of the Berthold American Legion, Minot Knights of Columbus, and president of St. Anne's Catholic Church Council. His hobbies included raising chinchillas, cattle, coin collecting, dancing, and shaking dice every morning for coffee at the Tumbleweed Café. He also enjoyed time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, sister Irene "Micky" Keller, Harvey, son Bruce and Kathy (Messer) Korte, Bismarck, daughter Lorri Baumgartner, West Fargo, son Brian, Minot, daughter Michelle and Greg Gordon, Minot. Granddaughters, Kari Martin, Lisa Ternes, Heidi Thomas, Sarah Bohrer, Alicia Gordon, Nicole Gordon; grandsons John Baumgartner and Dan Baumgartner Five great grandchildren Noah, Brianna, Adam, Gabriel, and Payton, and several nices and nephews. He is proceeded in death by his parents, brothers Arthur and Virgil, Father Ed (Edward) sisters Mary , Angela (Agnes), Elaine, twin sons Joseph and John Funeral: Friday, October 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Berthold, ND. Visitation and vigil prayer service: Visitation Thursday, October 14, 2010, (today) from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the vigil prayer service at 7:00 p.m. all at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND. Burial: Friday at 2:15 p.m. at Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot,
