Alois Koehler 1939- 2011 Alois was born in Hazen, ND to Arthur Koehler and Irene Auwinger Koehler on January 11, 1939. After his father’s passing, his mother married Benjamin Mutzenburger who continued to raise him in Hazen. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Hazen, ND. He attended Hazen Public School and graduated in 1957. He played football in high school and enjoyed hunting with his friends. Alois enlisted in the U.S. Air Force after his graduation and was stationed at Lackland AFB, Texas. He later was stationed in Mobile Alabama and Charleston South Carolina where he worked as an aircraft electrician. After serving four years he was discharged and joined his family who had moved to Minot. He worked for the Peter Kewitt Construction Company, building missile sites in the surrounding area. He worked briefly for Agsco Seed Company before becoming an installation and repair technician for Otis Elevator Company. As a young man he enjoyed competing in motorcycle events and continued riding all of his life. He also loved fishing and just spending time with all his good friends at the mall, motorcycle shop, and his wonderful neighbors. His kind heart and gentle spirit will be missed by everyone he touched in his lifetime. None more than his family who loved him deeply and will cherish their memories. Alois is survived by his brother, Mervin (Caroline) Koehler, Turtle Lake, ND; and his family niece Gina(Robert) Jans, Mercer, ND, great-niece Carrie Brown, great-nephew Shannon Jans, Minot, ND, sister, Myra (Jack) Schobinger, Virginia Beach, VA, and her family nieces Tiffany (Robert) Gaydos, Virginia Beach, VA, Tara (Spencer) Johansen,, great-nephews Brady Johansen, Bailey Johansen, Parker Johansen, great niece, Gabrielle Johansen, all of Virginia Beach, VA. Step-nephew: Jay (Sandra) Schobinger, great step-niece Madison Schobinger great-step-nephew Zane Schobinger, all of Dickinson, ND step-nephew Randall Schobinger, Chattanooga, TN and Patrick (Teri) Schobinger, great-step nephews Jack and Nicholas Schobinger, Chandler, AZ; step-niece Nancy (Delvin) Klatt, Great Step nephews Tallon Klatt, Weston Klatt, and a great step-niece Ashlyn Klatt, all of Dickinson, ND; Alois was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Koehler and Benjamin and Irene Mutzenburger. Visitation: Wednesday, October 12, 2011, from 2 until 7 pm at Thompson Larson Funeral Home, Minot Funeral Service: Thursday, October 13, 2011 at 10:30 am in Thompson Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot Burial: Thursday at 1:30 pm at St. Matthew’s Cemetery, Hazen, ND
