Dorothy D. Knutson 1920 - 2006 Dorothy was born on May 12, 1920, in Grant County, Indiana, the daughter of Jonathan and Edna (Pearson) Kelley. She was reared and educated in Indiana where she graduated from high School. Dorothy moved to Velva in July of 1946. She worked as bookkeeper at the John Deere dealership, the Farmers Elevator and at the Chevrolet Dealership in which she held part ownership. In January of 1954, she married Wilbert Knutson. He passed away on July 2, 1972. Dorothy enjoyed sewing, china painting, watercolor painting and oil painting, knitting and crocheting. She was a gourmet cook and a wonderful friend to many. Dorothy loved collecting dolls. One of her favorite pastimes was watching professional figure skating on television. She was an avid pro basketball fan, with the Indiana Pacers being her favorite team. Most recently she enjoyed watching baseball, cheering the on the Minnesota Twins. Dorothy was a member of the Velva Women's Club for 22 years, the Reader's Forum for 52 years and she served as secretary and board member for Velva Rental Housing for 18 years. She also served many years as secretary for the Seventh District Republicans and was a member of the Republican Women. Survivors: stepbrother, Raymond (LaVonne) Pattison, Marion, IN; cousins, William Pearson and family, Marion, IN, Winifred Davis and Merrill Dailey all of Carmel, IN; nephew, Kris (Cathy) Knutson, Voltaire, ND; and numerous additional nieces, nephews and cousins and a Goddaughter, Sandra Dee Ives, West Field, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert, father, Jonathan and mother Edna Kelley Pattison and stepfather, Alva Pattison. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Velva Area Ambulance. Time of Remembrance: Tuesday, September 12, 2006, at
1:30 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.
