Loyd Klimpel 1920 - 2003 Loyd Klimpel, 82, 614 22nd St. NW, Minot, ND, died Wednesday, July 2, 2003 in a Mandan Hospital. Loyd was born on September 9, 1920, Willis Township, Ward County, North Dakota, the son of William and Wilhelmina (Redmann) Klimpel. He was reared and educated in Willis Township. He started to work with his brother transporting coal at an early age. He then went to work as a laborer for the Great Northern Railroad roundhouse, the Ward County Highway Department and later the North Dakota State Highway Department, retiring in March of 1983. He married Catherine Schmalz on March 5, 1946 at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot. Loyd and Catherine owned and operated the Kozy Bar and the Double K Bar in Minot. Catherine died on September 28, 1996 and Loyd continued to live in Minot. Loyd was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot. He was a former member of the North Dakota Public Employees Association, the Loyal Order of Moose, the Eagles Aerie and the Labor Temple. Loyd was an avid Twins fan and enjoyed hunting, trapping and fishing. Survivors: children, Karen Czaplewski and her husband, Thomas (Chops), North Providence, Rhode Island, Margo Pflepsen, Minot, William "Bill" Klimpel and his wife, Marlys, Minot, Patrick Klimpel and his wife, Brenda, Minot and Alicia Eisenman and her husband, Jerry, Bullhead City, AZ; grandchildren, Melissa (Steve) Fenner, Troy Czaplewski, Malenius Kilmpel, Aaron Pflepsen, Drew, Dalton, and Danee Eisenman, and Kaiyla Klimpel; great-grandchildren, Brody, Taia and Ryder Fenner, Riley and Ethan Czaplewski; sister, Mabel Riley, Minot and sister-in-law, Emma Klimpel, Minot. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, granddaughter, Kara Melbarzdis, brothers and sisters, Walt Klimpel, Elsie Reed, Awalt Klimpel, Clarence Klimpel, Esther Irwin, Olga Busch, Ida Williams, Arthur Klimpel, Willie Klimpel. Funeral: Monday, July 7, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot Vigil Prayer Service: Sunday, July 6, 2003 at 5 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND Visitation: Noon until 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday
