Theresia Klein 1910 - 2006

Theresia Klein, 96, Minot, died Monday, November 27, 2006 in a Minot nursing home.

Theresia was born October 16, 1910 in the Karlsruhe and Verendrye area of McHenry County, ND, a daughter of Sebastian and Barbara Klein. Raised and educated there she attended schools at Karlsruhe and Verendrye. Her parents farmed in that area.

As a young woman she moved to Minot, where she was employed as a cook at St. Joseph's Hospital for a number of years. She then worked as a housekeeper for many Minot families. She and her sister Pauline owned and managed the Dinne Apartments in downtown Minot. They sold that property on West Burdick and Broadway to Carter Oil Company. The two sisters then purchased a home in Eastwood Park where they did drapery and seamstress work. Miss Klein also owned extensive farmland south and west of Minot.

She was a former member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Karlsruhe and St. Leo's Catholic Church in Minot, where she and her sister were church sacristors for 15 years. Miss Klein was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Chapel at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Prairies in Powers Lake, ND. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and of the Third Order of St. Francis Society. Miss Klein never married.

Survivors: Brothers, Carl (Katherine) Klein and Joseph (Evelyn) Klein, all in Minot, and Frank (Lucille) Klein, Seattle, WA; sisters, Barbara (Lloyd) Hankel, Minot and Agnes Streitz, Burlington; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Josephine Heilman, Maria Klein, Martina Weinreich, Margaret Stromme and Pauline Klein.

Funeral: Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot, ND.

Visitation and Rosary recitation: Friday, from noon to 7:00 p.m. with rosary recitation Friday at 7:00, all at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND
