Marie Alice (Pearson) Kleingartner
1922 - 2009 Marie was born in Lawton, ND on January 1, 1922 to Carl and Della (Olson) Pearson. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Lawton High School. After high school, Marie attended and graduated from the Fargo Business College. Marie worked for the Selective Service Agency in McClusky, ND, during World War II. It was there that she met the love of her life, Herb Kleingartner. They were married on April 9, 1946. To this union four daughters were born: Gertrude "Trudy", Connie, Shelly, and Becky. Marie enjoyed being a wife and mother. She was a Girl Scout leader and "cheerleader" for all the activities of her girls. Marie took pleasure in having Herb's youngest brothers visit in the summers for extended stays at their home. She has been a member of Christ Lutheran Church since 1956. She taught Sunday school and was in charge of the wedding committee for many years. Marie liked playing cards, dancing and spending time at their lake cabin. After her girls graduated from high school, Marie went to work for George Peterson Collection Agency in Minot. She enjoyed putting her business college skills to use again. Marie is survived by three daughters, Gertrude "Trudy" (Doug) Evenstad, Pierre, SD, Shelly (Dale) Hanenburg, Manchester, IA, and Becky (Greg) Horner, Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren, Carl (Shannon) Evenstad, Ansel Hanenburg, Jessica (Corey) Haeder, John (Cindy) Hanenburg, Jeff (Brittany) Horner; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Sonny "Oswald" Pearson and Glenn Pearson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Della Pearson; husband, Herb; daughter, Connie; and brother, Edward "Bubby". Memorial Service: Monday, August 3, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot. Visitation: Sunday, August 2, 2009 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Prayer Service: Sunday, August, 2, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Kleingartner Scholarship Fund at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot. Music Urn Bearers:Cindy Thomas and Tom Thorson Those not attending the graveside service may begin the fellowship and luncheon in the lower level of the church.
