Carl J. Klein • 1926 - 2010 Carl Joseph Klein was born on July 5, 1926, a son of Sebastian and Barbara (Wiest) Klein in Verendrye, ND. On October 12, 1948, Carl was united in marriage to Katherine Schan in Karlsruhe, ND. They made farming their life, at first in the Verendrye area, and beginning in 1950, ten miles southeast of Minot. In 1993, they retired and moved into Minot. Carl and Katherine raised their six children, three sons and three daughters, on the farm. Their sons continue to operate the farm today. Carl served on the Sundre Township Board and was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by:Wife of 62 years, Katherine, Minot; children: Karen Klein, Fargo, ND, son-in-law Thomas Hafliger, Fargo, ND; Ron (Roxanne) Klein, Minot, Janet (Steven) Schwan, Bismarck, ND, Duane (Rose) Klein, Kathleen (Raymond) Beeter, Minot, Michael (Donna) Klein, Minot; sixteen grandchildren: Kyle Hafliger, Erin Hafliger, Kacie Klein, Jayse Schwan, Brady Schwan, Calvin Klein, Adam Klein, Bryce Klein, Jessica Krueger, Danielle Krueger, Cole Krueger, Andrew Beeter, McKenna Beeter, Amanda Klein, Chelsy Klein, Travis Klein; brothers: Frank (Lucille) Klein, WA, Joseph (Evelyn) Klein, Minot; brother-in-law: Harold Weinreich, Minot; Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Theresia Klein, Pauline Klein, Agnes Streitz, Margaret Stromme, Barbara Hankel, Martina Weinreich, Josephine Heilman, Marie Klein.
