Darrell A. Kitzman 1936 - 2004

Darrell A. Kitzman, 68, Minot, formerly of Newburg, ND, died Friday, June 25, 2004, in Minot.

Darrell was born March 22, 1936, in Bottineau, ND, the son of Clarence and Bernice (Gessner) Kitzman. Darrell attended grade school at Deep School, rural Upham, and Russell, ND. He then attended high school at Newburg and graduated from Newburg High School in 1954. He resided in the Russell-Newburg area on the family farmstead until moving to Minot in the fall of 1998.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Upham, his entire life, and while in Minot he attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Darrell enjoyed many activities while living in Minot. He enjoyed going to the library and reading books on many different subjects. Darrell loved to follow sporting events, physical sports, as well as motor sports. He also participated in the many social activities and friendships he acquired while living at the Dakota Terrace apartments.

Survivors: Sisters, Shirley (Leonard) Dosch, Minot, and Lorna Simmons, Billings, MT; nieces, Kari (Duffy) Doubek, Shelly (Kyle) Leonard, Tracey (Tim) Schmitz, all Minot; nephews, Wade (Debra) Simmons, Craig (Deb) Simmons, all Billings, MT; aunts, Edythe Gessner, Minot, Betty Kalhagen, Devils Lake, and Lida Shahan, in California; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins also survive. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral: Wednesday, June 30, 2004, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot, ND.

Visitation: Tuesday, June 29, 2004, from noon to 7:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.

Burial: Wednesday, June 30, 2004, at 1:30p.m., at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Upham, ND.
