Clayton G. Kitzman 1921 - 2007 Clayton was born on June 25, 1921, the son of Edwin A. and Emelia Rose (Wittmayer) Kitzman, rural Upham, ND. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, and educated in the rural Upham. On June 1, 1941, he was united in marriage to Angeline Jeanette Vatsvog in St. John's Church in Deep, ND. They farmed in the Upham area until moving to Loveland, CO in 1955, where they owned and operated the Market Basket grocery store. Clayton also worked for the ABC Trailer Company, moving trailer homes throughout the Midwest. In 1959, they moved to Whitefish, MT, then later to Towner, ND, where Clayton worked as a field supervisor for the McHenry County ASCS before retiring. They moved to Minot in February of 2000. Angeline died July 17, 2001. Spending time with his family was so important to Clayton. His first priority of the day was to check his calendar for upcoming birthdays or anniversaries for which he would then place a call with a cheerful greeting, often times early in the morning. He wrote daily in his journal, recording the temperature, and the days events. Farming was in Claytons blood right to the end. His love of travel and nature was passed down to all of his children. Clayton also loved poetry and spending time with his family hunting and fishing. Clayton volunteered at Trinity Homes and was always there with a helping hand for his neighbors and friends. He especially enjoyed gardening, and teaching his grandchildren to fish. He was a caring man, and will be missed by all that knew him.
