Elaine Joyce Kittell, 76, of Minot, N.D., formerly of Glenburn, N.D., passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on Friday, December 31, 2010.

Elaine Joyce Kittell was born November 17, 1934, a daughter of Joseph (Joe) and Cora (Jordre) Larson, in Minot. She was raised and educated in Glenburn where she graduated high school 1952. She then attended Minot State Teachers College where she was affiliated with Beta Theta Sorority.

Elaine married Richard “Dick” Kittell July 18, 1954 and made their home in Minot, where she worked for First Western Bank, Northwest Sporting Goods, Christ Lutheran Church, Terhorst Manufacturing, and Piggly Wiggly.

Elaine was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose passion in life was watching her children and grandchildren participate in their varied activities. She was very passionate about her hobbies which included; cross-stitching, golf, bowling, reading, supporting Minot High School and Minot State athletics.

Elaine was able to overcome many obstacles in her life including breast cancer which she was diagnosed with in August 2009 and after months of treatment became cancer free. Elaine lived her life with great enthusiasm, pride, and joy which will never be forgotten by all who have ever had the pleasure of knowing and loving her.

Her loving family includes:  husband of 56 years, Richard, Minot; children, Jeff (Sue) Kittell, Garrison, Scott Kittell, Minot, and Shari (Dave) Erickson, Fargo;  grandchildren, Sarah Kittell, Joe Kittell, and Josh Kittell; Ashley Kittell and her special friend, Nathan Medler; and Ben (Nateal) Erickson, Jake (Morgan) Erickson, and Emily Erickson; great-grandchild, Kayson Kittell; brother, Richard (Pat) Larson, Glenburn; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral: Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot.

Interment:
  Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, ND.

Visitation: 
Tuesday from Noon to 5 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Vigil Prayer Service
: Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot.

Memorials
: are preferred to Breast Cancer Awareness/American Cancer Society

Following the funeral service, please join the family for a time of fellowship and lunch in the fellowship hall, located in the lower level of the church.

 The graveside service will take place at a later date in the spring of 2011.
