Olive Kirchner 1909 - 2002

Olive J. Kirchner, 93, Kenmare, died Friday, August 23, 2002 in a Kenmare Hospital.

Olive was born on January 31, 1909, in Carpio, ND, to Rasmus and Carrie (Vaagen) Anderson. She was raised and educated in the Carpio area and attended school through the eighth graded. She worked as a nanny in Minot, ND for a time. She married Raymond L. Kirchner on July 5, 1930. They lived and farmed near Kenmare. They moved into Kenmare in 1945. She worked at several Kenmare businesses including the restaurant, bowling alley, dime store and drive inn. She also worked in Minot for a time. She retired in the early 1960's due to poor eyesight. Her husband, Raymond, died in 1976. She lived with and cared for her daughter, Wanda, for her entire life. She lived in the Cottonwood Apartments in Kenmare for many years.

She was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare. Olive was famous for her baking of cookies, rolls and pies. She was fond of her dog, Princess, and did crocheting and handy work in her spare time.

Survivors: two daughters, Wanda Kirchner, Kenmare, and Beverly (Donald) Stohr, Missoula, MT; one granddaughter, Denise Marshall; five great-grandchildren, Nedra, Nadene, Josh, Breaha and Preston; two great-great-grandchildren, Ivy and Colby, all of Missoula; one brother, Carl (Bernice) Anderson, Carpio; two sisters-in-law, Gladys Anderson and Evelyn Anderson. Her husband, parents, three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

Funeral Service: Wednesday, August 28, 2002, 9:00 a.m. at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare, ND.

Visitation: Tuesday, August 27, 2002, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare, ND.

Burial: Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare, ND.
