Carol Jean King • 1940 - 2011

Carol Jean King, 70, died Thursday, July 7, 2011, at Trinity Hospital in Minot.

Carol Jean Austreng was born December 25, 1940, in Bismarck, North Dakota, the second of three children, to Marvel and Helen (David) Austreng.

On August 12, 1965, she was united in marriage to Ernest I. Goodell in Longview, Washington.  In 1985 she married Jason King.  In 1986 she met and fell in love with her life companion Bernard Ganje and has been with him to the day she passed.

Carol’s hobbies included embroidery, creating latch-hook rugs and knitting blankets for loved ones and friends. She was also an avid Bingo player. Carol enjoyed spending time with family and friends and traveling whenever she could.

Carol was certainly a lot of things to a lot of people and will be sadly missed by her friends and by her family, who loved her so.  

Her survivors include her son, Gary A. (Mary) Goodell of Alliance, Nebraska, her sister Joann (John) Ostreim of Longview, Washington.  Grandsons Justin (Jackie) Eveland of Pullman, Washington, Jason (Tristain) Eveland of Sandpoint, Idaho, Michael Braga of Omaha, Nebraska, Mathew Braga of Chadron, Nebraska, Christopher and Aaron Goodell, both from Alliance, Nebraska as well as a granddaughter, Elizabeth, also from Alliance.  She is also survived by great granddaughters, Bailey and Jaymie and great grandsons, Sylas and Austin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father and older brother.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 13th, at the Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, North Dakota.

Cards and memorials can be sent in care of the family at 603 Niobrara Avenue, Alliance, Nebraska 69301.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, North Dakota.
