Edward Allen Kendall 1933 - 2007 Edward was born May 5, 1933 in Bismarck, ND, the son of Allen and Stella (Larsen) Kendall. He was raised and educated in Moffitt. He entered the United States Army in 1953 and served during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1955. Following his discharge he worked at County Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah for a short time. Edward returned to North Dakota and began employment at St. Alexis Medical Center in Bismarck as a Scrub Tech., where he worked for five years. Edward married Margaret Ann Arel on September 2, 1961. From 1963 to 1973, Edward worked as Head of Dispensary at the North Dakota State Penitentiary. They moved to Mott, ND for one year where he worked for Dr. Robert Hankins. Edward then attended North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton from 1974 to 1975 where he earned his Licensed Practical Nursing Degree. He worked in the Elgin Hospital in Elgin, ND from 1975 to 1977, and in 1977 the family moved to Minot. From 1977 to 1983 he worked for the North Dakota Health Care Review in Minot. In 1983 he began employment at Trinity Nursing Home, where he worked until his retirement in 1998. Edward came out of retirement in 2001 to work as a Pharmacy Med Runner for White Drug in Minot. He worked there until he retired again in 2007. Edward was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Minot and served as a Parish Council Member for two years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Edward enjoyed woodworking and built many things, but he was most proud of the four beautiful cradles he built for his grandchildren. They will be cherished for years to come. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren who meant the world to him. Those who shared in his life: His wife of 46 years, Margaret, Minot; children, Tammy (Larry) Luna, Henderson, NV, Troy Kendall, Darin (Pam) Kendall, Dalen (Cindy) Kendall, Melinda (Steve) Hall, all of Minot, ND, and Eric (Laura) Kendall, Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren, Jacob, Madison and Tayler Luna, Henderson, NV, Christy and Steven Jurick, Jalynn Kendall, and Halie and Mekenzie Hall, all of Minot, and Brody Kendall, Grand Forks, ND, and one due later this year; sisters, Margie Nieland of Thornton, CO and Verna (Dwayne) Payne, Atomic City, ID; mother-in-law, Millie Arel, Grand Forks, ND; sisters-in-law, Darlene Kendall, Bismarck, ND and Yvonne Kreis, Glen Ellyn, IL; brothers-in-law, Melvin Bauer, Bismarck, ND, Jerry Arel, Park River, ND, Dale (Judy) Arel, Grand Forks, ND and Jean (Sheila) Arel, Wahpeton, ND; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Edward was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roger; sister, Verlyn Bauer; his father-in-law, Lawrence Arel and three brothers-in-law, Butch Freier, Roger Nieland and Robert Kreis. Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, September 22, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 2600 West Central Ave., Minot, ND. Visitation and Vigil Prayer Service: Visitation will be (today) Friday, September 21, 2007, from noon to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, with the vigil prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.
