Tony Keller 1913- 2006 Tony was born on November 2, 1913, on the family farmstead in rural Karlsruhe, ND, the son of John and Anna (Kraft) Keller. Tony was reared and educated in Karlsruhe. He entered the United States Army on November 5, 1941, serving his country during World War II, where he was stationed in Panama and Ecuador. Tony was honorably discharged on October 31, 1945. After his discharge, he returned to ND and on June 3, 1946, he married Hildegard Schaan. The couple made their home in the Rugby/Balta area. Hildegard died on June 5, 1947. Tony married Caroline Heilman on December 30, 1953, at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Velva. The couple farmed in rural Granville all their lives. He was a member of the Granville Township Board for many years and was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Granville and of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Velva. He was most recently honored in 2004 as a 50-year member of the American Legion Post #155 in Granville. In his leisure time, Tony enjoyed ice fishing at Buffalo Lodge Lake, visiting with family and friends and attending auctions, after all the farm work was done His loving family includes, wife of 52 years, Caroline, Granville, ND; son, Brien Keller, Granville; Daniel (Kim) Keller, Richmond, VA, Patrick Keller, Minot, and Charles (Becky) Keller, Towner, ND; grandchildren, Stephanie, Andrea, Alec, and Ian Keller; brothers, Fred (Tillie) Keller, Albany, OR, Bernard (Angeline) Keller, Karlsruhe, and John (Peggy) Keller, Minot; sisters, Ann (Tony) Hoffert, Rugby, Martha Wolf, Seattle, WA; sister-in-law, Liz Keller, Drake, ND; uncle, George Kraft, Rugby; aunt, Mary Volk, Devils Lake, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Hildegard, brother, August Keller; sisters and brothers-in-law, Julia (Mike) Kupser, Claira (Russell) Swet, and Mary (Jim) Schmaltz.
