Ruben Kaul 1929 - 2005

Ruben Kaul, 76, 424 2nd Ave. NW, Minot, ND, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2005, at Trinity Hospital, Minot, after suffering a massive heart attack at his home the previous day.

Ruben was born to Christ H. and Martha (Feickert) Kaul on February 25, 1929, in Minot. He was raised and educated in Minot.

As a young man, he worked for Swift and Company. He was married to Catherine Ann Conners on April 14, 1947. They made their home in Minot. In 1946, he started work at the Russell Miller Flour Company where he was employed until it was destroyed by fire in 1967. He then briefly joined his brother, Bill as a carpet installer in Great Falls, MT. In 1968, he joined the Sweetheart Bakery, retiring in 1986, after 18 years. Catherine passed away on April 7, 1971.

On April 27, 1981, he married Darlene Martinsen. They continued to reside in Minot.

He was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge and the Eagles Aerie. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, stamp and coin collecting, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving family includes: wife of 24 years, Darlene, Minot; daughter, Sharon (Oniel) Carter, Las Vegas, NV; son, Tom (Cheryl) Kaul, North Richland Hills, TX; 5 grandchildren, Angela (Rick) Johnson, Teresa (David) Roeper, Pauline (Tracy) Crawford, Allen (Angie) Dionne, and Farrah (Robert) Nuzzo; 14 great-grandchildren; niece, Betty Emerick, Bowbells; great-niece, Heidi Emerick, Bowbells; sister, Elsie Swendseid, Butte, MT; brother, August Kaul, Great Falls, MT; and several nieces, nephews.

Ruben was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Carl Tannehill; wife, Catherine; brother, William.

Funeral: Saturday, December 3, 2005, at 2:00 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.

Visitation: Friday from Noon to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

In lieu of flowers, Ruben's family recommends memorial contributions to the American Heart Association.
