Richard E. Kambeitz 1937 - 2009 Richard was born February 28, 1937 in Granville, ND to Tony and Theresa (Steier) Kambeitz. He graduated from Karlsruhe High School in 1955. On July 1, 1957 Richard married Jeanne Hage in Karlsruhe and to this union two sons were born. Richard worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad for a time and many years in the construction field. He was a police officer in Velva and later owned and operated the Benedict Bar, Benedict, ND and D & J's Bottle Shop in Velva. He was currently employed with the Minot Vocational Workshop as a job coach, a job he truly enjoyed. He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Velva and the Velva Senior Citizens. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and a former member of the Velva Fire Department and the Velva Jaycees. Those who shared in his life, loving wife of 51 years, Jeanne, Velva; son, Gary Kambeitz, Minot; grandchildren, Richard Kambeitz and his friend Amber Dalen and future great-grandson, Kage Michael, Brianne Kambeitz and fiancé Jason Rudd, Danielle Cooper, all of Minot, and Jill Britton, Velva; sister, Sally (Phil) Dahle, Minot; brothers, Melvin (Diane) Kambeitz, Bismarck, Leroy (Susie) Kambeitz of Colorado; sister-in-law, Darlene (Jerry) Christenson and family, Spokane, WA and brother-in-law, Ron (Lucille) Hage and family, Aberdeen, SD. Richard was preceded in death by his son, Donald; granddaughter, Zoey; great-grandson, Angel Michael; his parents; brother, Joseph and sister, Marcy. Funeral: Monday, April 6, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Velva, ND. Visitation and vigil service: Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., with the vigil prayer service Sunday at 7:00 p.m. all at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Velva, ND. Burial: Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Velva, ND later in the spring.
