Tilford N. Julson 1922 - 2006 Tilford Norman Julson was born on February 4, 1922, the son of Emil and Stella (Anfinson) Julson on the family farm near Simcoe, ND. He was raised in the Simcoe area, educated at the Simcoe Country School and farmed with his father at a young age. Tilford then went to work for the Civilian Conservation Corp and then enlisted in the United States Army on October 27, 1942. He proudly served his country during WWII, and was involved in the European Theatre (Battle of the Bulge). He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater Service Medal, and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on February 4, 1946. After his discharge, Tilford returned to North Dakota to continued farming with father and later purchased the farm in the 60's and actively farmed his land till the 80's. Tilford married Marjie Hansen on March 29, 1948, in Minot. The couple made their home in Minot where Tilford went to work for Truax Trayer Coal Mine. He later went to work for Great Northern Railroad and later the Burlington Northern Railroad where he worked until he retired in 1977. After his retirement, Tilford attended auctioneers school at Mason City, Iowa, and later worked as a Representative for several Minneapolis law firms. He was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church, the Eagles Aerie, Elks Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Kiwanis Club, the Disabled American Veterans, all of Minot, the United Trainmen's Union, and the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. Tilford was a former member of Stenkjaer Lutheran Church, Simcoe and Mt. Olivet in Minot. He enjoyed vacationing with Marjie and drinking coffee at Ryan Chevrolet. Surviving family includes: wife of 58 years, Marjie, Minot; son, Larry N. Julson and his fiancé Gail Evans , Boise, Idaho; daughter, Linda ( Richard Jr.) Frey, Minot; grandchildren, Jaime Bristol, Minot and Lea M. Julson, Bend, OR; brother, Vernon (Yvonne) Julson, Key West, FL; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Myrtle Brabandt.
