Phyllis K. Joyce 1909 - 2005 Phyllis K. Joyce, 86, 2044 8th St. NW, Minot, ND, died Sunday, January 16, 2005, at her daughter's residence. Phyllis Kathleen Bonebrake was born on August 16, 1918, the daughter of Kay and Lula Mae (Morris) Bonebrake in Minot. She was raised and educated in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1936. She then attended business college in Des Moines, Iowa. Phyllis was married to Lawrence A. Joyce on January 14, 1939. They made their home in Minot, where they raised their four children. In 1952, they purchased a farm southeast of Minot and developed a residential sub-division on a portion of it. After Lawrence retired in 1977, they wintered in Mesa, Arizona, for a number of years. Phyllis was a member of Congregational United Church of Christ, Minot, and its Mayflower Circle. She was also a member of a Poker Club for 65 years. She was active with the PTA, the Cub Scouts, and the Moose Auxiliary in Minot. She was also very active in the Democratic Party. Phyllis enjoyed sewing, visiting with friends, and spending time with her children, especially her grandchildren. Surviving family includes: son: Thomas (Nancy) Joyce of Colchester, Connecticut; daughters: Mary Lou Joyce of Bismarck; and Julie (Bryan) Hoffer of Minot; grandchildren: Michaela, and Kyle Shipman, John Hoffer, and Johnna Varty; sister: Rosemary Brooks; brothers: William Bonebrake, Kay (Arline) Bonebrake, and Richard (Helen) Bonebrake; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husband, and son, John. Funeral: Wednesday, January 19, 2005, at 11:00 a.m.
