Verna I. Johnson 1918 - 2009 Verna Irene Olson was born on November 10, 1918, the daughter of Ole R. and Anora K. Olson, in Minot, ND. She was raised and educated in Minot, and graduated from high school in Minot. She then attended a beauty school. Verna was married to Walter Edward Johnson November 3, 1943, in Seattle, WA. Following Walter's discharge from the U.S. Navy, they returned to Minot where they made their home. She had worked for Peggy's Beauty Shop for a time. Walter passed away June 10, 1994. Verna had continued to reside in Minot. Verna was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Minot, where she was an active volunteer and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a lifetime member of the Railroad Museum of Minot. Verna enjoyed sewing, crossword puzzles, fishing, and watching western movies. Surviving family includes: grandchildren, Ron Poehler, Fargo, Scott Poehler, Fargo, and Grant Poehler, Minot; and several nieces and nephews. Verna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; daughters, Janice Poehler and Manette Johnson; sisters, Florence Olson and Mildred Swiss; and brother, Bill Olson.
