Ruby I. Johnson, 83, Minot, formerly of Granville, ND, died Tuesday, May 22, 2007 in a Minot hospital.

Ruby was born on January 1, 1924, the daughter of Ole and Ruth (Ormbreck) Peterson in Alida, MN. She was reared and educated in the Berwick and Rugby area, graduating from Berwick High School in 1943. Following her graduation, she lived in Minneapolis, MN for several years.

On October 10, 1953, she was united in marriage to Harold Johnson., in Mandan, ND. Following their marriage, they lived North of Minot, before moving to a farm near Granville/Denbigh in 1959. She worked at various businesses, and also assisted with the operations of the farm. In 1971, a house fire made them move into Granville. Harold died on July 22, 1973. She moved into Minot in 1982, and worked as a meat cutter for Cloverdale Meats until her retirement in 1986.

She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Minot, and a former member of the Denbigh Homemakers club. She enjoyed crocheting and most of all playing Bingo.

Ruby is survived by: Children: Robert (Dallas) Johnson, Minot, Marvin Johnson, Minot, Judy Bostow, Rapid City, SD, Julie (Mike) Allen, Tampa, FL, Kamie Gotvaslee, Minot, Jerry (Sharyl) Johnson, Milnor, ND , Lori (Matt) Townsend, Palm Bay, FL; Seventeen grandchildren: Larry Johnson, Darin Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Patrick(Nicole)Allen, Barbie Allen, Victoria Gotvaslee, Lucas Gotvaslee, Sandy Bruesch, Robyn (Chuck)Blaine, Kiera Townsend, Kyle Townsend, Brooke Townsend, Brody Townsend, Nicholas Bostow, Brandon Johnson, Eric Johnson, Sharisa Johnson four great-grandchildren Khai, Carsen and Carter Blaine and Madilyn Johnson. Brothers: George (Helen) Peterson, Salem, OR, Lawrence (Laura) Peterson, Corona, CA, Johnnie (Doris) Peterson, Spokane, WA,
Sisters: Emma Lavik, Hillsborough, OH, Norma (Robert) Strandberg, Spokane, WA, Marlys (Jim) Venner, Lakewood, CO, JoAnn (Don) Kenzy, Rocklin, CA.Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Elsie Iverson, Myrtle Ames, and a son-in-law, Wayne Gotvaslee

Visitation: Friday, May 25, 2007, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Memorial Service: Saturday, May 26, 2007 at 10 am at First Lutheran Church, Granville

Burial: Granville Community Cemetery, Granville, ND
