Robert L. Johnson 1934- 2010 Robert Lincoln Johnson was born February 12, 1934 in Minot, ND to Robert M. and Verna May (Slauter) Johnson. He was raised and educated in the Hartland and Tagus, ND areas. He received his GED in 1963. Robert was employed at the Russell Miller Milling Company until he joined the United States Army on December 6, 1956. He served as a sergeant during the Korean Conflict and received his honorable discharged on November 25, 1958. Following his discharge he returned to Russell Miller Milling Company until 1970. Thereafter, he was employed at Bridgeman Creamery, Midwest Motor Express, Minot Public Schools and Cenex. Robert was united in marriage to Deloris Norgard on July 21, 1959 at Zion Lutheran Church in Minot. They were members of Zion from 1959 until the present time. During his membership at Zion, Robert served as usher and was an altar guild member. He enjoyed helping with the lutefisk dinners and attending the men's breakfasts. Family came first to Robert. He was a humble, proud, and exceedingly kind man, who found the meaning of life through his family. Soft-spoken, light-hearted and quick with a smile, Robert was a hard-working man of patience and honesty. He was a man who always put others before himself. Roberts love was his flowers and maintaining a well-kept lawn. He enjoyed sitting in his lawn chair or taking walks around the neighborhood to visit. He was always available to lend a helping hand to a neighbor. Western movies and NASCAR racing were two favorite pastimes. His priority in the morning was to join his coffee buddies at Marco's Restaurant. Following his retirement Robert did volunteer work at Trinity Health. For the past three years he was very blessed to have been a part of the Edison School system. He found the children and wonderful staff very comforting to him. He looked forward every day to going to work at Edison School. He was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the American Legion. Those who shared in his life, loving wife of 51 years, Deloris, Minot; son, Wayne Johnson, Minot; daughter, Denise Johnson, Rochester, MN; brothers, Lyle (Elaine) Johnson and Dwaine (Jan) Johnson, all of Minot; sisters, Dorothy Sheldon, Hale, MI, and Marjorie (Norris) Kjellberg, Berthold; sister-in-law, Shirley Johnson, Minot; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Verna; brothers, Gordon and Roger, and sister, Mildred Kolloen. Funeral: Friday, October 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot, ND. Visitation: Thursday, October 14, 2010 (today) from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND. Officiating Clergy: Rev.
