Robert "Bob" L. Johnson 1931 - 2005

Robert "Bob" L. Johnson, 73, Upham, ND, died Wednesday, February 2, 2005, in Minot hospital.

He was born on October 20, 1931, in Pelican Rapids, MN, the son of Ralph and Viola (Beaudin) Johnson. He was reared and educated in rural Kent, MN. After graduation he worked on the family farmstead before entering the service.

Bob entered the United States Army in 1951, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1953. Bob married Betty Marie Engelhard. The couple returned to rural Kent, where he continued farming with his father. The couple had two daughters, Linda and Diane. After the birth of his two daughters Bob went to work for the Burlington Northern Railroad in Minot. Bob retired from the railroad after 32 years of service. After his retirement he moved to Upham where he farmed and raised cattle and also assisted on his daughter, Diane's farm.

Bob's grandchildren will always remember being " The light of his life," Erick Robert, "Rain in the face," Dillon Lee and "My Precious granddaughter," Madeline. He will be greatly missed by his dog, Sam, the Coffee Clutch and the Smear Group.

He was a member of the Upham American Legion and the Minot Eagles Aerie.

Survivors: daughters, Linda (Christopher) Haight, Ramsey, MN, Diane (Richard) Rosenau, Upham, grandchildren, Erick, Dillon and Madeline Rosenau; sisters, Ione (David) Meyers, Wahpeton, ND and Jeannie (Warren) Gast, Kent, MN; several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Service: Saturday, February 5, 2005, at 2 p.m. at New Hope Lutheran Church, Upham, ND.

Visitation: Friday, February 4, 2005, from Noon until 5 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Prayer Service: Friday, February 4, 2005, at 7 p.m. at New Hope Lutheran Church, Upham.

Burial: West Melankton Lutheran Cemetery, Upham, ND.
