Richard E. Johnson, Sr.
1941 - 2005 Richard E. Johnson, Sr., 64, 609 22nd St. NW, Minot, ND, died Saturday, December 24, 2005, in his home. Richard was born on February 2, 1941, the son of Glen and Evelyn (Kirkelie) Johnson in Kenmare, ND. He was raised and educated in the Bowbells area. He enlisted in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1962, and was stationed in Virginia. He was once married to Grace Heath. Together they raised two children, Rick and Rose. They lived and worked in Virginia. In 1966, he moved to Columbus, ND, and worked for Portal Services. In November of 1968, he went to work for the Great Northern Railroad. He worked there retiring due to health reasons. Richard was married to Alice Korgel on December 30, 1982, in Minot, ND. He was a member of National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 753 of Minot. He enjoyed playing cards, driving, and having coffee with his friends at Lydia's Café. Surviving family includes: wife, Alice, Minot; son, Richard Johnson, Jr. and his wife, Teresa, Kenmare; step-children, Becky Sebastian and her husband, Kevin, Larry Burns, Garry Burns and his wife, Becky, Clay Burns and his wife, Faye, and Roberta Bossie and her husband, Michael; three grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild, 4 step great-grandchildren; father, Glen Johnson, Minot; sister, Lois Lindhal, Stanley; brother, Donald Johnson and his wife, Carol; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Alice "Evelyn" Johnson; daughter, Rose Haaland. Funeral: Wednesday, December 28, 2005, at 11:00 am
