Robert Lee Johnson 1950 - 2002

Robert Lee Johnson, 52, 200 South Main St., DesLacs, North Dakota, died Friday, November 22, 2002, at his home.

Robert was born on March 14, 1950 in Minot, the son of Iver and Constance "Connie" (Skarstad) Johnson. He was reared and educated in Minot. He joined the US Navy on January 14, 1969 and served four years including two tours in Vietnam. He was also stationed in Albany, Georgia He received several medals and commendations while serving.

Upon his discharge he moved back to the Minot area and lived there until moving to Florida for a time. He moved to Kenmare where he worked for the Vets Club. He then moved to Minot, where he worked for Wholesale Supply Company from June of 1987 until July of 1996 when he was forced to quit because of ill health. He could not work because of medical disability until the last several months. He was currently employed by Sykes Enterprises, Inc of Minot.

Robert was active in Boy Scouts as a cub master. He coached Little League Baseball in Surrey and Albany, Georgia. While in the Navy he also coached football and baseball. He enjoyed golf, reading, the Chicago Cubs and NASCAR racing.

Survivors: brothers, Dennis Johnson, DesLacs, Terry Johnson, Minot, Ronald Johnson, Minot; sister, Donna Ward, Minot; one nephew, three nieces, one great niece and three great nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral: Tuesday, November 26, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot,

Burial: Norwich Cemetery, Norwich, North Dakota, 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2002.

Visitation: Monday, from noon until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
