Palma Johnson 1914 - 2002 She was born on October 6, 1914, in Glenburn, ND, the daughter of Daniel J. and Olava (Hilmo) Hoiland. She was reared and educated in Wolseth, ND and was confirmed on October 21, 1928, at Nedros Lutheran Church, Wolseth. She married Lester Johnson October 17, 1936, at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot. The couple farmed in Prescott Township, Renville County, east of Glenburn. Lester and Palma went custom combining during the southern wheat harvest. Lester died on December 8, 1970. Palma continued to live on the farm until 1983, when she moved into Glenburn. In October of 1998, she entered Edgewood Vista in Minot. In the spring of 2001, Palma moved to Kenmare and entered the Baptist Home and in 2002 she entered the Kenmare Nursing Home. Palma was a former member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, rural Deering. She was a member of the Glenburn Senior Citizens and the St. Olaf Ladies Aid. Survivors: sons, Gordon Johnson and his wife Bernice, Minot and Erling Johnson and his wife Donna, Glenburn; two grandsons, Wayne Johnson and his wife DeAnne, Cando, ND and Dean Johnson and his wife Jean, Bismarck, ND; step granddaughter, Renee Lindsey, Minot; five great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kirby, Blake, Wyatt and Gracie; one step great-granddaughter, Brooke; two sisters, Mabel Simonson and her husband Morgan, and Joyce Schuman and her husband Rod, all of Minot; three sister-in-laws, Mabel, and Loraine Hoiland, both Minot and Jean Hoiland, Billings, MT and several nieces and nephews survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester, parents, and eight brothers and sisters; John, Bergetta, Tilda, Inga, Roy, Odin, Maynard and Dora. Funeral Service: Saturday, December 28, 2002, at 1 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot. Visitation: Friday, December 27, 2002, from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
